"When looking for your new puppy from a good responsible breeder, it is important to remember that you are not only buying your puppy, but in a sense you are buying the breeder of your puppy as well!" ~ JaLa Yorkies The History of JaLa Yorkies Originally established as Garden Yorkies in 2002 the name came from our dog's names Rosie, Lily & Daisy who were all named after flowers. Like we always say...it all started with Rosie (Vance's Lil' Rosebud). Although Rosie was never bred and is spayed she is the reason yorkies are in our family. Rosie is a very sassy girl, but so loving. She adores kids and to be the center of attention. When you come to visit puppies at Laura's house Rosie is the first one to greet you, and she will make sure you play with her too! Garden Yorkies started with Daisy as our foundation bitch. Daisy blessed us with her sassy personality, sweet kisses and her legacy forever. Her contribution to JaLa yorkies will be with us forever. We currently have her daughter Lola and her grand-daughter Katie. In 2004 Garden Yorkies became JaLa Garden Yorkies! The name comes from the first two letters of both of our names, Jackie & Laura! Knowing that we would both be raising yorkies for a long time to come and sharing the same ethics we saw no reason to have two different kennel names, so we created one which represented us both! JaLa Yorkies as we affectionately call our yorkies represents a wonderful mother-daughter relationship and partnership that we are both very proud of! Our story will only continue from here, we will never be done striving for the "perfect" yorkie...one that is sound in health, temperament and beauty! Time to Give Thanks... We will be forever grateful to Eva and Tamas of Pellerd-Ore Yorkshire Terriers and Birgit Dawin of Padawi's Yorkshire Terriers for entrusting us with the most beautiful and healthy Yorkshire Terriers to start our lines with. We will do all that we can to make you forever proud of your yorkies and their future generations! A very BIG thank you to our dear friend Jan Prosser of Petite Pawz Yorkies in Canada, you are a true friend. She is a personal inspiration to me everyday, her strength, her wisdom, her passion, and her ethics are spectacular! We are so very proud to call her our friend. We would also like to thank our wonderful friend Molly Forman of Cloverdale Yorkies...for your friendship and your support! You are always there when we need you and we value your friendship more than you will ever know! We would also like to thank our family and friends who come and support us at the shows, give us a shoulder to lean on when needed, and celebrate the good times with us! Thank you, we love you and could not be where we are without each and every one of you! Thank You! ~ Laura & Jackie

Meet Jackie!
Hi my name is Jackie Kuk, the proud daughter of Laura! I am currently a full time student working towards vet school, but spent the past 4 years working as a veterinary technician. Yorkies quickly became a passion for me about the same time it did for mom, you see Rosie was very easy to fall in love with. I used to only want large dogs ...Now I could not picture my life without my yorkies! They are truly a joy to live with and the light of my life!
Mom introduced me to breeding and raising dogs years ago when she started with the most beautiful and graceful champion sired standard poodle. That is when I fell in love and learned to appreciate great quality in a dog. Since then I have always been there by her side, assisting when I can and taking it all in. She has been the best mentor!!! She is an awesome breeder whose standards and ethics are incredible! She has taught me well! From choosing dams and sires to caring for them and their puppies...she has taught me so much! Although our experiences have not been without worry, sweat and tears, they have been priceless for us both! Since high school I have been absorbing everything. Learning the ins and outs of the canine fancy! Constantly immersing myself in information, researching the breed, breeding, health concerns, nutrition, genetics, showing and much more! In December 2005 a long time dream of mine came true by stepping into AKC conformation ring at Cleveland's premier "Christmas Classic". I have had so much fun spending the extra one-to-one time with the yorkies during conformation classes and shows that I have been bitten by the show bug. Along the way we have also had the honor to meet some fellow exhibitors and thank them all dearly for their warm welcome to the sport of purebred dogs! I hope to continue to exhibit with our yorkies in conformation! It has been something that I am having a lot of fun doing. I am enjoyng the opportunity to show our first bred-by this year. Maia is Quaker and Venus's daughter...she is just a dream to show! As you can see we share the same goals and ethics when it comes to breeding our yorkies! This is what makes our relationship so special...here at JaLa yorkies...it is a family thing! A mother - daughter adventure in to the wonderful world of yorkies. We are both always here for you, whether you have purchased a puppy from mom or me, we are here to be a constant source of help and support! Like mom said our job as a responsible yorkie breeder does not end when our puppies leave our homes!

I am Laura Vance and a professional dog groomer of 17+ years and have been breeding and raising Yorkshire terriers for several years now! My passion with breeding dogs started with Standard Poodles many years ago. Soon I longed for a toy breed that would not only make a wonderful companion, but also one that had lots of coat for me to play with!
Meet Laura!
After much research and looking for a reputable breeder I found yorkies to be the breed for me and then I found Rosie who not only made me fall head over heels in love with this breed but made me want to fill my home with them. Breeding has always been something that has captured my heart. Having such a passion for yorkies and for breeding I decided to put them together and the hunt for my foundation began. I finally found Lily and Daisy to start my breeding program with and then later my first stud...and that was just the beginning! In November 2004 a real dream came true for me when I bought my first show quality male, Quaker...then the fantasy of showing a beautiful yorkie came true in June 2005 when we both entered the ring for our first time together! Since I was a child I have wanted to compete in conformation, it still delights me today that we took Best Of Breed our second day out from the puppy class! I hope to continue to show Quaker and compete along side my daughter, Jackie. It is my dedication to this breed that keeps me breeding beautiful, happy and healthy puppies that will continue to grab at their owners hearts forever. My job as a responsible breeder does not end when the puppies leave my home. I am here to be of any assistance possible to you and your family.

Yorkies In The Garden by Ray Hermann Concerning the very origin of the dog, I know what the scientific experts say: "There is just too much fossil evidence, Found among the rocks and in the clay." But, I believe that dogs were created, For they could not have just evolved. God knew 'woman' also needed a companion, And with a dog, that problem was solved. And what kind of dog would be helpful, Living in Earth's very first paradise? God knew, besides intelligence and courage, That small size and softness would be nice. So, two Yorkies were given to Mother Eve, To mate them and bring forth, by birth, Pure joy, pleasure, comfort, and warmth, For all the women that were to fill the Earth. Now, when you see a little Yorkshire Terrier, With its tail up high and proud as can be, You will know that there is a very real God, Who sometimes spells LOVE as Y-O-R-K-I-E.
